Tools in compliance with 2017 OSHA Silica Dust Exposure regulation changes

On June 23, 2016 the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA, passed a ruling that works to reduce the amount of silica dust workers breathe in on job sites. Under this ruling, employers are responsible to prevent employees from inhaling silica dust in amounts that exceed the permissible exposure limit, or PEL. This change significantly impacts professionals in the construction industry.

Effective Sept. 23, 2017, the new ruling reduces worker exposure to no more than 50 micrograms of silica dust over an eight hour shift. The health risks associated with silica dust combined with the 2016 OSHA violation penalty increase make it critical that employers comply with this new ruling. Read more.
