Helping our neighbors during the holidays
“It is part of our Ferguson Cares mission, to give back, and we are proud to support the fund.”
Monday, November 16, 2015For the third-straight year, Ferguson has partnered with the Daily Press to help those in need in Hampton Roads during the holidays.
“We are fortunate that the Daily Press organizes the Holiday Fund and helps families in our community, especially during the holiday season,” commented Frank Roach, Ferguson CEO. “It is part of our Ferguson Cares mission, to give back, and we are proud to support the fund.”
Donations support local nonprofit programs that provide food, clothing and shelter; distribute toys to underprivileged children; and work toward the prevention and treatment of child abuse. Through its partnership, Ferguson will match community donations at 50 cents on the dollar up to $100,000.
The newly re-named Daily Press/Ferguson Holiday Fund was originally established in 1929 when officials of the newspaper created a Stocking Fund “for children of the poor.” Today, the fund supports nearly 30 nonprofit organizations in Hampton Roads and donates more than $150,000 per year.
